Managing Pages: Creating Static Content

Last updated on Jun 18, 2026 09:50

While "Posts" are used for time-sensitive news and blog articles, Pages are designed for static, evergreen content that rarely changes. Examples of pages include your "About Us", "Contact", "Terms of Service", and "Privacy Policy" pages.

Pages are not organized by dates or categories. Instead, they form the structural foundation of your website's navigation.

Creating a New Page

To manage your pages, navigate to Content > Pages in the main sidebar. Click the Add New button to open the Page Editor.

The Page Editor uses the exact same intuitive Block Editor as the Posts editor. You can type / to insert images, videos, tables, and formatting blocks.

Page-Specific Settings

While the writing experience is identical to a blog post, the Settings Sidebar (on the right) has options specifically tailored for static pages:

Page Template (Theme Feature): Depending on your active Theme, you may see a "Template" dropdown. This allows you to completely change the layout of the page. For example, you might select a "Full Width" template for a landing page, or a "Contact Form" template for your contact page.

Order: You can assign a numerical order to your pages (e.g., 1, 2, 3). This is useful if your theme automatically generates menus based on page order.

Featured Image: Just like posts, pages can have featured images. This is particularly important for SEO and social media sharing.

SEO for Pages

Static pages are often the most important pages for your business's Search Engine Optimization.

Scroll down below the editor to the SEO Settings panel to optimize your page:

Ensure your Meta Title clearly states the purpose of the page (e.g., "About PolyCMS - The Team Behind the Platform").

Write a compelling Meta Description that encourages users to click from Google search results.

Adding Pages to Your Menu

Creating a page does not automatically add it to your website's main navigation menu.

Once you have published your new page, you will need to go to Appearance > Menus to add it to your header or footer so that visitors can find it. You can learn more about this in the Menus Guide.

PolyCMS is an open-source content management system for modern web applications, inspired by the WordPress plugin and theme ecosystem but built on top of the Laravel framework. It is designed to provide a complete foundation for content publishing, e-commerce, multi-language support, and extensible module architecture — powered by a Vue 3 admin panel with data served entirely through RESTful APIs.

Whether you're building a blog, a documentation site, an online store, or a multi-tenant SaaS platform, PolyCMS aims to give you a comprehensive starting scaffold so you can ship quickly and extend easily through integrated modules and themes. In particular, themes in PolyCMS follow a multi-theme architecture — one Main theme and an unlimited number of Sub themes can run side by side on the same installation.

We hope this ready-made foundation proves useful for building your next website, blog, or web app, saving you from having to start completely from scratch.
